AFRICA ON SAFARI – South Africa, Zimbabwe & Kenya

18 Days Fully Escorted

Johannesburg • Victoria Falls • Hwange NP • Soweto • Nairobi • Amboseli NP • Mount Kilimanjaro • Aberdare NP • Samburu NP • Lake Nakuru • Lake Naivasha • Maasai Mara

We’re looking forward to being your hosts and returning to where Girls Own began, it was 1997 when we took our first group on safari, touring Zimbabwe in an ex-British army truck! Since then we’ve been back many times and can’t wait to visit again. Why don’t you join us?

This exciting itinerary has lots of inclusions and features a few ‘bucket list’ experiences including a stay in the iconic Victoria Falls Hotel a proud member of Leading Hotels of the World and a 4 day all inclusive rail journey on Rovos Rail, recapturing the romance of a bygone era with reconditioned wood-panelled coaches and fine cuisine in five-star luxury.

We start with 2 nights at Victoria Falls, one of the worlds’ natural wonders and a place that has a lot to offer. The perfect way to fully appreciate the size and majesty of the Falls is on a helicopter flight or you can try one of the more adrenalin pumping activities such as white water rafting, zip lining, a microlight flight or bungee. It’s here we board Rovos Rail for our journey to Petoria, capital of South Africa. On route we stop for a game drive in Hwange National Park home to one of the world’s largest elephant populations estimated at 30,000.

From Petoria we will make our way to Joburg, stopping on route for a short tour of Soweto. Next morning we board a flight to Nairobi and do an in depth tour of Kenya in 4×4 vehicles.

First stop Amboseli famous for its elephant herds and views of Kilimanjaro, in Aberdare National Park we will stay in the same lodge the Queen stayed in, viewing game from various decks and balconies. Then onto Samburu NP famous for its rare mammals that only survive north of the equator. These are the gerenuk, reticulated giraffe, Beira Oryx and Grevy’s zebra.

At Nakuru we will visit the school we support as well as the small and beautiful Lake Nakuru NP to see a fabulous array of wildlife including the endangered white and black rhino, then onto Lake Naivasha with it’s flocks of flamingos and protected hippos. Finally the Maassi Mara with the best wildlife viewing in Africa. Its rolling plains are home to hundreds of plains game together with predators that feed on them.

Optional Add-on to Rwanda and Uganda to see the Mountain Gorillas

We won’t be escorting this but we will have all transfers and guides in place along the way. You will require a certain level of fitness to participate as getting to the gorillas involves anything from 2-8 hours trekking in quite dense forest. Ask for more details.

We can’t wait to show you the Africa we know as well as experiencing some new destinations together. Let us know as soon as possible if you will be joining us, as numbers are limited as is accommodation.
